예방의학회지(J Prev Med Public Health)의 사명은 양질의 논문을 발간함으로써 예방의학 및 공중보건 분야의 연구, 정책, 교육을 장려하는 데에 있다. 본 지는 연간 6회(1월 31일, 3월 31일, 5월 31일, 7월 31일, 9월 30일, 11월 30일) 발간하며, 예방의학 및 공중보건 분야의 연구, 정책, 교육과 관련된 원저, 단신, 종설, 특집, 사례보고, 편집인의 글, 논평을 게재한다. 예방의학회지는 미국 국립의학도서관(National Library of Medicine, NLM)의 PubMed (www.pubmed.gov)와 한국의학편집인협의회의 KoreaMed (www.koreamed.org)에 등재되어 있다.
일반사항
예방의학회지에는 아직 출판되지 않은 (논문 초록은 제외) 타 지에 게재되지 않은 원고만을 투고할 수 있으며, 중복게재를 허용하지 않는다. 학술대회에서 발표한 원고는 학술대회 연제집 등의 형태로 전체 원고가 출판되지 않은 경우에 투고할 수 있다. 투고 논문과 밀접하게 관련된 저자들의 논문(출판완료, 게재예정 또는 심사중인 논문 포함)도 편집위원회 사무실(yjlee@snu.ac.kr)로 보내야 한다. 이는 본 지에 투고한 논문의 독립적 기여도를 완전하고 공정하게 평가하기 위해서이다.
연구윤리 및 사전 동의
예방의학회지에 투고한 논문은 세계의사협회(www.wma.net/)의 헬싱키선언문에서 정한 윤리적 기준에 부합하여야 한다. 저자들은 환자 비밀을 보호하기 위해 노력해야 한다. 연구 대상자의 신상을 노출시키는 정보를 논문에 사용해서는 안된다. 인간을 대상으로 한 연구에서 저자들은 연구 수행 기관의 연구윤리위원회로부터 해당 연구가 승인을 받았는지를 입증할 책임이 있다. 즉, 연구윤리위원회의 승인 내용을 논문에 명시하여야 하며, 해당되는 경우 연구대상자로부터의 사전동의를 받았다는 사실을 논문에 명시하여야 한다. 동물실험을 한 연구의 경우도 연구윤리위원회의 승인 여부를 논문에 밝혀야 한다.
저자됨 (Authorship)
모든 저자는 <생의학 학술지 투고 원고의 통일양식 Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals (www.ICMJE.org) >에 명기된 저자 기준을 충족하여야 한다. 저자들은 투고 논문이 아직 출판되지 않았으며, 기존 논문과 중복되지 않는다는 점을 입증할 책무가 있다. 모든 저자들은 (1) 논문의 구상, 연구설계, 자료수집이나 분석 혹은 해석을 하는데 있어서 상당한 공헌을 하고 (2) 논문을 작성하거나 지적 내용의 주요 부분을 변경 또는 개선하는 데 기여하며, (3) 최종 원고의 내용에 동의하여야 한다. 예방의학회지에 투고하는 논문의 저자수는 7인 이내를 원칙으로 한다. 저자수가 7인을 초과할 때에는 공동저자들의 역할분담에 대해 진술하고 편집위원회의 승인을 받아야 한다. 논문 심사중 저자를 추가하는 경우는 편집위원회의 승인을 받아야 하며, 논문 채택 이후에는 저자 추가는 불가능하다.
이해관계 (Conflicts of Interest)
각 저자들은 투고 논문의 내용에 영향을 미칠 개연성이 있는 직접적인 혹은 간접적인 재정적 이해관계를 밝힐 의무가 있다. 책임저자(guarantor)는 공동저자들의 이해관계의 가능성 여부를 확인하고 이에 대한 정보를 편집위원회에 제공하여야 한다.
투고 원고의 작성
국문 및 영문 원고 모두 예방의학회지에 투고가 가능하다. 본 지는 영문 원고를 환영한다. 국문 원고의 모든 학술용어는 국문으로 써야 하고 번역이 곤란할 경우에만 영문 또는 한문으로 쓸 수 있다. 원고의 순서는 표제지(title page), 초록(abstract), 주제어 또는 중심단어(key words), 본문(manuscript body), 감사의 글(acknowledgements), 참고문헌(references), 표와 그림(tables and figures)의 순으로 한다.
표제지. 표제지에는 (1) 간결하며 내용을 잘 전달할 수 있는 국문 및 영문 제목, (2) 국문과 영문의 저자이름, 소속기관, (3) 연구비 지원처, (4) 책임저자의 이름과 주소, 전화, 팩스번호, 이메일주소 등을 기재한다. 영문 원고의 경우 국문 제목은 불필요하다. 국문 제목이 30자가 넘거나 영문 제목이 15단어가 넘을 때에는 표제지에 따로 난외 표제(running head : 국문의 경우 15자 이내, 영문의 경우 8단어 이내)을 적어 넣는다. 제목에 연구설계를 표시하는 것을 권장한다. 제목에는 약어를 사용해서는 안된다.
초록. 국문 논문 및 영문 논문 모두 영문 초록이 제시되어야 한다. 초록은 별지로 작성하되, 250단어 이내로 한다. 원저, 단신, 종설 원고의 경우, 목적(Objectives), 방법(Methods), 결과(Results)와 결론(Conclusions)의 소항목으로 구분되는 구조화된 초록으로 작성하여야 한다. 다른 종류의 원고(특집, 사례보고 등)에서는 구조화되지 않은 초록으로 제시할수 있다. 초록에 참고문헌을 포함해서는 안되며, 가급적 약자는 사용하지 않도록 한다.
주제어(의학주제용어 Medical Subject Headings). 초록 하단에 논문의 주제어(중심단어 key words)를 알파벳 순서대로 6개 단어 이내로 표기한다. 이 때 주제어는 미국국립의학도서관에서 제공하는 인덱스 메디커스(Index Medicus)에 나열된 의학주제용어(MeSH: Medical Subject Headings)를 사용하여야 한다(www.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/MBrowser.html).
본문. 논문은 통상 인쇄시 8페이지 이내 분량으로 하며, 이보다 긴 논문에 대해서는 추가 게재료를 부과한다. 원고는 순서대로 페이지가 매겨져 있어야 한다. 본문은 서론, 재료(대상) 및 방법, 결과, 고찰로 나눈다. 고찰의 마지막 부분에 논문의 핵심 결론을 명료하게 제시한다. 국문 논문의 경우 아라비아 숫자(예: 1, 1), (1), ①)로, 영문 논문의 경우 로마자로(예: I, A, 1, a) 본문의 항목 구분을 한다. 본문에 약자를 처음 사용할 때에는 정식명칭을 먼저 쓰고 괄호를 이용하여 약자를 표기하며, 이후에는 약자만을 표기할 수 있다. 표준 측정단위에서의 약자를 제외하고는 가급적 통용되지 않는 약자의 과도한 사용은 피한다. 본문, 표, 그림설명 등에서 참고문헌을 지시할 때는 참고문헌 번호를 꺾인괄호로 [1], [2]와 같이 나타낸다. 본문에 참고문헌을 직접 인용할 때는, 저자의 성을 영문으로 표기한다. 저자가 2인일 경우에는 “와” 를 사용하여 둘을 연결하고, 저자가 3인 이상일 경우에는 제1저자와 “등” 을 사용한다 약품명은 상품명보다 일반명의 사용을 원칙으로 하며, 연구 목적상 중요한 경우에 한해 상품명 사용이 허용될 수 있다. 모든 숫자는 아라비아 숫자를 사용하고, 확률에는 소문자 p를 사용한다. 퍼센트는 %로 표기하며, 도량형은 미터법을 이용한다. 온도는 섭씨로, 혈압은 mmHg, 헤모글로빈은 g/dl로 표기한다. 다른 측정치들은 국제단위체계(International System of Units, SI Units) 방식의 미터법단위(meter, kilogram, liter)를 사용한다. 측정 수치와 단위 표시 사이는 띄어 쓴다.
참고문헌. 저자들은 원고에 포함된 참고문헌이 정확하고 완전하게 인용되었는지 확인할 책임이 있다. 모든 참고문헌은 영문으로 작성한다. 국문 참고문헌은 끝에 “Korean”이라고 부기한다. 참고문헌은 순서대로 기재하며, 기재순서는 본문에 인용된 순서로 한다. 참고문헌의 표기 방식은 미국국립의학도서관이 인덱스 메디커스에서 사용하는 체제에 따라 다음에 열거한 예를 따르며, 다음에 예시되지 않은 사항은 <생의학 학술지 투고 원고의 통일 양식>의 표기 방식에 따른다. 초록, 미발간 연구보고, 개인통신(personal communications)을 인용하는 것은 가급적 피한다. 게재가 결정되었으나 아직 출판되지 않은 논문은 끝에 “in press”를 부기한다.
학술지 논문
6인 이내 저자의 경우 성과 이름의 머리글자(initial)을 쓰며, 7인 이상 저자의 경우, 차례대로 6인을 쓴 후 et al. 로 표기한다. 다음으로 논문 제목, 인덱스 메디커스의 약자에 의거한 학술지 이름, 발간 연도, 권(호), 해당 논문의 첫 페이지와 마지막 페이지를 기재한다.

투고
투고는 이메일(yjlee@snu.ac.kr)로 한다. 논문은 수시로 접수한다. 투고시 원본 파일(MS Word, Hwp file)을 보내야 하며, PDF 파일은 접수하지 않는다. 저자이름과 소속기관이 기재된 원본 파일과 이들이 기재되지 않은 파일 등 2개 파일을 보낸다.
심사과정
투고 논문이 도착하면 편집위원회는 투고 논문의 내용이 예방의학회지의 발간 취지에 적합한 지를 심사하며, 그 결과에 따라 심사 불가 결정이 내려질 수 있다. 투고 논문은 통상 해당 분야 3인의 전문가에게 심사를 의뢰하며, 심사기간은 평균 2개월이다. 편집위원회는 논문이 출판되기 전까지 논문의 핵심 내용을 침해하지 않는 범위 안에서 원고의 체제, 용어사용, 원고량 등에 대한 수정을 요구하거나 수정할 권한을 지닌다. 논문에 대한 심사자들과 편집위원들의 의견에 따라 편집위원회는 저자들이 원고를 수정하도록 요청한다. 이때, 저자들은 심사자들과 편집위원들이 제기한 논점들을 수정 원고에서 어떻게 반영 또는 반영하지 않았는지를 가능한 자세하게 설명하여야 한다. 심사 결과로서 수정을 요구 받았을 경우, 그로부터 1개월 이내에 수정 원고를 투고시와 동일한 방법으로 제출하여야 하며, 1개월 이내에 수정 원고를 제출할 수 없을 경우에는 편집위원장의 동의를 얻어 수정원고 제출기한을 1개월 연장할 수 있다. 기한 내에 수정원고가 제출되지 않은 경우 자동으로 게재불가 처리한다.
논문 발간
논문 채택시 게재용 원고 파일을 편집위원회 사무실로 보낸다. 채택된 논문의 게재 순서는 최종 채택 원고의 접수순으로 하는 것을 원칙으로 한다. 게재 논문에는 투고 일자와 논문 채택 일자를 기입한다.
저작권
예방의학회지에 게재되는 모든 원고에 대한 저작권은 대한예방의학회가 소유한다. 원고 채택시 이메일을 통하여 책임저자에게 전달된 ‘원고게재동의서’에 모든 저자들은 서명하여야 한다. 책임저자는 모든 저자들로부터 서명을 득하여 편집위원회로 전달하여야 한다. 책임저자는 당초의 투고 논문, 수정 논문 및 채택 논문의 내용과 참고문헌 및 인용구의 정확성에 책임을 지며, 저작권 위반에 대해서도 책임을 진다. 논문이 게재 결정된 이후에는 저작권자의 서면동의가 없이는 다른 언어라 할지라도 타 지에 게재할 수 없다.
교정쇄(Page Proofs)
논문 발간에 즈음하여 책임저자에게 교정쇄를 전달한다. 교정쇄를 주의 깊게 읽고 필요하면 수정한 후, 편집위원회로부터 교정쇄를 전달받은 후 48시간 이내에 회신해야 한다. 교정쇄의 수정은 조판상의 오류에 국한하며, 논문의 내용을 바꾸거나 첨가하는 것은 불가하다. 교정쇄의 내용에 대한 최종 책임은 저자가 진다
심사료
예방의학회지는 청탁 원고를 제외한 모든 원고에 대하여 소정의 심사료를 징수한다.
별쇄본과 게재료
책임저자에게 50부의 별쇄본을 발송하며, 이는 통상 출판후 4주가 소요된다. 책임저자는 소정의 인쇄비를 지불하여야 한다. 칼라 인쇄가 필요할 경우 저자가 실비를 부담하여야 한다. 인쇄비 청구는 출판 이후 이루어지며, 이와 관련된 문의는 편집위원회 사무실로 할 수 있다.
INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS
The mission of the Journal of Preventive Medicine and Public Health is to promote research, policy, and education in the field of preventive medicine and public health by publishing papers of high scientific quality. The journal is issued six times a year (January 31, March 31, May 31, July 31, September 30 and November 30) and includes original articles, short reports, reviews, special topics, case reports, editorials and letters in the fields of research, policy, and teaching of preventive medicine and public health. The contents of the Journal of Preventive Medicine and Public Health are indexed and abstracted by PubMed (www.pubmed.gov) of the U.S. National Library of Medicine. Articles are also abstracted in KoreaMed (www.koreamed.org) of the Korean Association of Medical Journal Editors.
General Information
Journal of Preventive Medicine and Public Health considers manuscripts that have not been published previously (except as an abstract), and are not being considered for publication elsewhere. A paper presented at a scientific meeting may be considered if it has not been published in full in a proceedings or similar publication. Any closely related manuscript either published, in press, or under review must be sent via e-mail to the journal office (yjlee@snu.ac.kr) at the time of the submission to Journal of Preventive Medicine and Public Health. This will allow for a full and fair evaluation of the independent contribution of the submitted paper.
Research Ethics and Informed Consent
Any investigation under review in Journal of Preventive Medicine and Public Health must be in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki of the World Medical Association (www.wma.net/). Careful attention should be paid to participant confidentiality. Information identifying participants should not be used. It is the authors’ responsibility to verify that any research involving human subjects has been approved by the committee on research ethics at the institution where the research was conducted. The authors should state in the manuscript that such approval was received and, where applicable, that informed consent was obtained. When reporting results of animal studies, authors should specify appropriate ethics committee approval.
Authorship
All authors must fulfill the criteria of authorship as specified in the Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals (www.icmje.org). Authors are responsible for verifying that the content of a submitted manuscript has not been published elsewhere and does not overlap previously published work. Authors must also verify they have: (a) significant participation in study conceptualization, design, data analysis, and interpretation of results, (b) contribution to writing a draft or major intellectual modification or improvement in the manuscript, and (c) approval of the final version. The Journal of Preventive Medicine and Public Health lists no more than seven authors. Special justification must be provided for the inclusion of more authors. The addition of an author to a manuscript under review is possible only with editor’s approval. Changes in authorship cannot be made after the manuscript is accepted for publication.
Conflict of Interest
Each author must disclose affiliation(s) with any organization with a direct or indirect financial interest in the subject matter discussed in the manuscript that may affect the report of work submitted. Corresponding authors are required to confirm whether they or their co-authors have any conflicts of interest to declare, and to provide appropriate details.
Manuscript Preparation
Manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Preventive Medicine and Public Health can be in Korean or English. We welcome submissions in English. For manuscripts written in Korean, all academic terms should be written in Korean. English or Chinese terms can be used only when translation is difficult. Manuscripts should be written and numbered in the following sequence: title page, abstract, key words, manuscript body, acknowledgements, references, tables and figures.
Title Page. The title page should include the following: (a) concise and descriptive Korean and English titles, (b) full author(s) names and affiliations, (c) description of funding source(s), and (d) the name and address of the corresponding author. For manuscripts written in English, a Korean title is not needed. When a Korean title is over 30 letters or an English title is over 15 words, a separate running title within 15 Korean letters and within eight English words should be provided. Specification of study design in the title is recommended. Do not use abbreviations in the title.
Abstract. All manuscripts, whether written in Korean or English, should contain an English abstract. Abstracts should appear on a separate page and be no more than 250 words in length. For original articles, short reports, and reviews, provide a structured abstract with headings for Objectives, Methods, Results, and Conclusions. Unstructured abstracts are allowed for other types of papers (e.g., special topics, case reports). References should not be included in abstracts and abbreviations should be used sparingly.
Keywords (Medical Subject Headings). Authors should provide a list of no more than six keywords in alphabetical order below the abstract. Keywords should be selected from main headings listed in the Medical Subject Headings in Index Medicus published by the U.S. National Library of Medicine (www.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/MBrowser.html).
Manuscript Text. Manuscripts should not exceed eight printed pages. Extra page charges will be levied for over-length manuscripts. Pages should be numbered consecutively. The manuscript body should be divided into introduction, materials (subjects) and methods, results, and discussion sections. A brief paragraph to clarify the main conclusion should be included at the end of the discussion section. Arabic numbers can be used to divide the main body in manuscripts written in Korean (e.g., 1, 1), (1), ①). Roman numerals are used to divide the main body in manuscripts written in English (e.g., I, A, 1, a). Abbreviations should be spelled out in full the first time they appear in the manuscript body with the abbreviations in brackets. Avoid over-use of abbreviations except for abbreviations of standard measurement units. All references in the text should be cited in English. In text, tables, and legends, identify references with Arabic numerals in square brackets, such as [1], [2]. Authors' last names should be cited in English. For two authors, connect the names by “and.” For citations of three or more authors, include the first author's last name followed by “et al.”
All references in the text should be cited in English. For two or fewer authors, include only last names connected by “와” for manuscripts written in Korean or “and” for manuscripts written in English. For citations of three or more authors, include author last names followed by “등” for manuscripts written in Korean or “et al.” for manuscripts written in English. When reporting drug names, generic names should be used. Commercial drug names can be used only when it is important for the study purpose. All measurement numbers should be written in Arabic numbers. When reporting probability, a lowercase p should be used. Per cent should be written as % throughout. Lengths are expressed according to the metric system. Temperature is expressed in degrees Celsius, blood pressure as mmHg, and hemoglobin as g/dl. All other measures should be reported in International System of Units (SI Units). A space is placed between a measured value and its unit.
References. Authors are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of references used in the manuscript. All references should be written in English. References written in Korean are indicated by writing (Korean) at the end. References should be numbered sequentially and cited in their order of use in the main body of the manuscript.
References should be cited according to the system in the Index Medicus used by the American National Library of Medicine as shown in the following examples. Those not shown in the examples should be cited according to “Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals” (www.icmje.org). Avoid using "abstracts," "unpublished observations" and "personal communications" as references. Papers accepted but not yet published may be included by adding "in press."

For six or fewer authors, list the surnames and initials of all authors; for seven or more list the first six authors and add et al., title of article, name of journal abbreviated according to Index Medicus style, year, volume, first and last page numbers.

Tables and Figures. The use of tables, figures, and photographs that supplement the text are recommended but should not duplicate material found in the body of the manuscript. Tables and figures should be presented in English. Tables and figures are placed at the end of the manuscript body and should be numbered (Arabic numerals) in the sequence in which they appear in the text. Approximate locations should be marked in the manuscript body. Titles for tables and figures should be self-explanatory with the first word written with an upper case letter and the rest in lower case letters. The same principle is applied to the content of a table or figure. Tables are prepared with no horizontal or vertical dividing lines. Explanations for and abbreviations used in tables and figures are included as footnotes. For footnotes, use the following symbols in the following order: *, †, ‡, §, ∥, ¶, **, ++, ‡‡, etc.
Manuscript Submission
Submission of manuscript should be made via e-mail (yjlee@snu.ac.kr). Manuscripts can be submitted at any time. Original source files are requires for submission; PDF files will not be accepted. A manuscript should be submitted in duplicate with one original manuscript file containing author name(s) and affiliation(s) and one blinded file without name(s) and affiliation(s).
Review Process
Upon submission of a manuscript, the board of editors for the Journal of Preventive Medicine and Public Health will review the paper for appropriateness of content. Articles can be rejected at this initial review process. Articles are reviewed by three experts in the field. Peer review averages 2 months to complete. The board of editors reserves the right to edit a manuscript for phrasing, style, and overall length at any stage prior to publication, while maintaining the scientific accuracy of the manuscript. Based on comments from reviewers and editors, authors may be asked to revise their manuscript. Authors are required to submit a letter of explanation regarding how they dealt with all comments and questions raised by reviewers and editors. If revisions cannot be submitted within one month, author(s) may request a one-month grace period. If the revised manuscript is not submitted within the required period, the manuscript will automatically be rejected. Manuscripts will not be returned after submission.
Publication
Upon acceptance for publication, one file of the original manuscript should be submitted to the journal office. Publication order is based on the order of submission of finalized manuscripts. Dates of submission and acceptance appear in the journal.
Copyright
The Korean Society of Preventive Medicine owns all copyrights of manuscripts published in Journal of Preventive Medicine and Public Health. Authors will be asked to sign the journal’s “Authorship Responsibility and Copyright Transfer” form. This form will be sent to the corresponding author via e-mail upon acceptance of a manuscript. The corresponding author is responsible for obtaining signatures of all authors consenting to copyright transfer. The author is responsible for the content of both the original and reviewed and edited manuscript, accuracy of references and quotes, and for any violations of the copyright agreement. After the manuscript is accepted for publication, it will not be published elsewhere, in any other language, without the written consent of the copyright-holder.
Page Proofs
Page proofs will be transmitted to corresponding authors by e-mail as PDF files. Authors are responsible for the content of page proofs. All page proofs should be read carefully, corrected if necessary, and returned within 48 hours of receipt. Corrections should be restricted to typesetting errors. Changes or additions to the edited manuscript are not allowed at this stage.
Article Review Charge
Journal of Preventive Medicine and Public Health levies an article review charge for every submitted manuscript other than reports solicited by the journal.
Reprints and Page Charges
Corresponding authors will receive 50 reprints from the publisher. Reprints are normally shipped four weeks after publication. Corresponding authors are charged for the publication cost of their paper. Where printed color figures are required, the authors will be charged at the current color printing costs.
